Invidia’s Kiss

Invidia’s Kiss

Divinity, the gods or Mother Energy contrive
How else to arrive or quantify coincidence’s sardonic slaps?
On this day of love and champagne, sweetened by nectar
Past scars are torn open by sudden thunder

Eyes once more seen, slice thru’ like gamma rays
Your smile of sunshine feels like sunburn
You still send energy that combines to synergy
But sadness rains down on me in a cloud of melancholy

The question is still lit upon me
A journey of romantic disaster that is my litany
But to see you on this day is quintessential tyranny
The invisible tyrant that seems to direct my lonely destiny

I laugh with mixed emotions, a laser of irony
The misstep that’s always the slip of Wednesday’s child
Yet I don’t surrender for I’m always young and wild
The quantum of true love is eternal and kind
