Battering Mind

Battering Mind

Geometric art a colorful delight
Casting out some sight
Outward moving whirlpool of brilliance
Changing, shifting pattern dance

Rich essence of the spectrum
Playing in time like a plectrum
Metronome in my brain
Dalliance of light with a migraine

Kaleidoscope the dancing mechanism
Lava lamp the flowing
Dazzling lightning shapes emblazoned
Triangles of color in this sequenced psychedelic cinema

Twisting twirls rushing round
Blues, gold, white and reds astound
My mind in a roller coaster without sound
The slowing down as the energy winds to gone

A Hard Place

A Hard Place

Does fate exist or is it an excuse?
Did destiny let you down and now you’re regretfully sad as a clown
Does a divinity make you suffer because he’s a grumpy old bugger?
D’you trust your guardian angel to stop you treading on the third rail?

Rhetorical questions that ask the impossible
Puzzles of life unless reason is unassailable
But reality is everyone’s suspect
That it exists regardless of whims or wishes

Remember the girls that could run like boys?
Remember the boys that could dance like girls?
Confusion in the ranks of the rigid thinking
Maybe civilization was sinking

The Saturday Night Post readers were shrinking
Norman Rockwell’s country disappearing
Who do we blame for setting apple pie aflame?
It’s what happens when reason’s made lame

Acid Test

Acid Test

No, no, no! Eliminate the irrational
Emotions that fight your determination
Rising feelings that strike with guilt
Destruction must be what you’ve been taught

Deny the most basic of self-immolation
The curse that you’re fallen because you’re human
Guard against the spiritual, the superstitious, that’s most preposterous
Any belief or doctrine, you know the ridiculous

The very fountain of evil is the opposition of reason
The very soul of destruction is the denial of logic
There can be no faith and reason, for that is intellectual treason
There’s only faith or reason, it’s so for every season

The danger of the irrational is sublime acceptance
Pandering to self-righteous emotions and tautologies
Beware of traditions that usurp individual thought
Nothing must require acceptance, everything must be open as in court

Only In Virtue

Only In Virtue

The Age of suffering, bearing that cross
Prayers thru’ your soul to fill the void or kiss that loss
Jewel in the universe is blue
Moving and living but as if standing still too

You’re that Earth in your universe
Is it moral to surrender to hope?
Is it moral to reach the end of your rope?
Self-pity is self-rejection that makes you a victim to cope

Faith and fathom are the only two
The mind runs on reason and is your earthly glue
Belief requires no reason to be true to you
Regardless, both reject the self-pity stew

Never known are the battles that people fight
Within or in plain sight, emotions become tight
To be compassionate and empathetic begins towards you
So be resilient and kindness to yourself is due

Heroic Wings

Heroic Wings

We choose our childhood heroes, reflecting our aspirations
It’s in fact about us and we live thru’ their actions
The truly great are humble and honest
They hold virtues and there’s no arrogant side

You keep them forever close to your soul
Revisit what they’ve done and it never gets old
We dream and pretend it’s inevitable
We remember and can tell about every variable

They inspire to the highest level, in them we trust
We endeavor to act as they must and do our best
This journey of self-discovery powered by passion
Exciting is the revealing and living its expression

In adulthood it takes a millisecond and we’ve traveled back
Golden memories’ effects we see in our life’s track
We wished upon that star and were blessed with a gift
How fortunate we are

Jimi

Jimi

Putting life force into the metal strings
He played as no other and made them sing
It makes you bow your head in prayer
Flowi the tears of happiness when heaven is on earth

Resonating with your soul
How else can I explain this gold?
Emotion transferred from mind thru’ genius
I’m Joshua for time stands still

To search his soul and see
There was no mediocrity
Life was guitar and music the avenue
Outside of that were emptiness and a boring queue

So he pushed on as an entity of one
Trying to reach levels beyond
A step to far understandably
But he reached immortality

I Found Me

I Found Me

Dissatisfaction silently attaches
An emotion that clutches
No application sent
Merely a feeling that pays no rent

Mercury is my shadow
Pushing and pulling to high and low
Planet, substance and eloquence
How funny my birth sign and god of poetry

King David, Jedidia and harp
All three his make-up
Me, Jedidia and guitar
She laughs at this triangular jar

It’s enough to wonder about inevitability
That we’re set and merely have to discover our journey
Is that life’s destiny?
To find oneself is to be damn lucky

Hadrian’s Nightmare

Hadrian’s Nightmare

Disturbed by loves lost is part of the winter frost
For a grimacing face is a cold rain must
Summer has gone for its southern break
One hundred twenty days later to return all fit and sleek

The mountains now lord over in the high North
Calling for snow and awaking the winds to blow
Santa and Chanukah the lights begin to glow
Pretty at night and braving the dark, it’s a show

In the Middle-East during winter there’s only one light
It shines constantly to be strong to fight
In no other place can Christians and Jews celebrate
In only Israel are they free to chant and ululate

Christmas is about birth and Chanukah renewal
Within a short distance is Bethlehem and Jerusalem
Peace isn’t a probability but security is
Within the Jewish State there’s freedom’s face

After Dark

After Dark

In between darkness and light is when the geminis sneak out
Cousins to the gremlins that hide up the water spout
They’ll take you on if you’re staggering about
Gin or whiskey is their favorite rout

They’re of the twos descended from Janus
Deciding which way to throw you and maybe confuse anima or mus
For as your consciousness wanes, the un will rise
They’ll decide and maybe you reprise

Who’ll pay at this in between time of day?
For the angels are usually all at play
Currency is the quality of your soul
Do you possess virtue or have the venom of a ghoul?

The deciding comes and you’re riding
Spinning world that won’t stop regardless of wretched promising
You pay the price of a night gone wild
In the light of day your punishment will be hammers in your head anything but mild

Running Water

Running Water

I take from regret, a positive step
Turn around and look at emotions that hurt
They’re a reflection of you, you’re meant to see
Instructing how to set you free

To do what frightens, raises me to enlightens
Rational action be my constant guide
Once there and after the sweat and despair
The surprise of success and recognition that emotion is a weakling clinging

In a month a new beginning, good Lord we’ve traveled round the sun
Our loyal star that is a temporary light
In two billion years it’ll be permanently night
Laugh as you may, but one day there’ll be no hay

So it’s better to get out and play
To do and risk without delay
To me it means no or minimal regret if any
And that’s filling life with plenty

Always Thankful

Always Thankful

Why these tears as Thanksgiving nears?
That place returned to and there was always a peaceful stillness and no tears
Emotions of all remembered now gone
That happiness always seems forever but actually weighs a ton

Is yours an emotion of the cold turned trees?
Autumn leaves on the ground, that crunching sound
The crisp air and aroma of honey roasted almonds
Turkeys not forgiven, basted in the ovens

Scattered thoughts driven by emotion
Do I look upon a Nation wracked by a fading sun?
Holy cow institutions that once united us in fun
Now no longer as they disrespect the very Nation they were blessed to run

I love America because it made me who I am
Instilled in me the idea of individual freedom
Raised my mind to understand reason as the only one
My blood will always be red, white and blue, anon

Vaginal Revenge

Vaginal Revenge

Under the warm lights you outed your body
Twisting to shine for Uncle Hugh’s parody
Would it work and then you’d rock at Club 54?
They’d all want to be in pictures with you on the dance floor

Resentment was high to the Conservative sky
Flaunting convention in place since the Biblical dimension
You were the envy of those that wanted to pose
Celebrated by the burning bra brigade in prose

A skin revolution pulling society kicking and screaming
Into the age where borders became invisible and teasing
In its wake came hedonism that magnificent schism
Shattering illusions about mothers and daughters not wanting

Where’re you today, still as beautiful as that day?
Centerfold honeys and you’re the generational bunnies
Proud and dignified you still love “The Hef”
He’s gone now but will never be forgotten regardless of death

Aversion

Aversion

The coffee’s always tastiest when there’s no time
The illicit always solicits and its attraction feels sublime
A throwback, an emotion, an ancient line?
Enshrined in mankind’s DNA, is excited by the edge after the climb

Suppression’s the most modern obsession
Averse to risk and that upsets, bringing depression
Not thru’ individual choice, that has little voice
Teaching we’re all so delicate and precious

Are the sun’s rays as angry as they say?
Have we become humanity that prefers dull and gray?
To find the middle ground that satisfies all around
This lesson a kiss from those that are ninety is profound

Our battle with gravity was thought to be insanity
But you’re only a clown until you discover your perspicacity
Risk is exposing you while others huddle
So protect yourself from that deviation puddle

Masquerade

Masquerade

Do you see reality, the abstract flashlight lighting it brightly?
Do you try not to look away when it gives you a fright?
Does it make you prey harder at night?
Does it make you reach quicker for the substance delight?

Questions that frighten and nerves that tighten
The older you become the more you realize we’re all in mortality’s net
Frailties are the eye wideners that make you shiver on a summer’s day
Suddenly there’s evening shade and the demon of death is smiling at its prey

This is reality’s rock face; see the child suffering and parents in despair
The tears that fall and fists tight in an angry squall
Confusion and questions for which there’s no answer
The corral of life that cuts as a knife

But witness the human spirit, the deathly sick child laughing at Disney
In the background we weep for their suffering and misery
Trying to fathom between reason and faith
We arrive at no solution and anyway, the end is death

At Dusk

At Dusk

In the distance, across the Mall, I see Capitol Hill
My perspective’s from long ago, when Our Nation was so young
Time and patience, fanaticism and flexibility
All’s been used to subvert and shift Our Nation towards vulnerability

On the edge we’re poised with a knife at Freedom’s jugular
Away has been swept reason and reality into the vulgar
Relativity and subjectivity has twisted sanity and morality
No longer is the Constitution inevitability

I look away leftward and see the White House
That jewel standing strong as a roustabout
From there we can turn back this tide of Liberalism
Regain our poise and once again fight for Individual Freedom

For this collectivism that pervades is a weak mawkish serenade
Riding emotions that are the Kool-Aid
Declare YES!, to I can think for myself and I deserve happiness
My mind is my own and I reject value sacrifice

Soon The Light

Soon The Light

Vectors shining from logic’s light
Random walks of life like walking on a dark night
Are you a knave or a brave knight willing to fight?
The mysteries of life’s convergences in your sight

Random’s no contradiction but chaos’s love and delight
Order that binds to be expressed in coincidences
Puzzles our brains that fire off synapses
A telephone rings when it’s an inconvenience ………

You see time can’t be defeated and is an enemy
We forget that in many a change in timing, we’ve no say in any
We’ve been taught self centered expectation rather than insecurity is fascination
Insouciant misconception that patience isn’t a virtue

Ignoring the greats that saw the abstracts
We’re dulled to focus on the inviolate concretes
Instead of being flexible and becoming fortunate
Fanaticism that what YOU see is the only state

After The Night

After The Night

Hear the breaking glass, see blood on the grass
Its lives shattering and heads cracking
November nights in a row, sledgehammer blows
Rohm roamed and The Chosen died alone

Walk the sidewalks crunching the crying glass
Open store fronts that were once fronts of class
Notice the difference as you nervously glance
All the windows are gone after the nights of the NAZI dance

The People stood and watched that night as they sang Uber Alles
Hatred anointed by Martin Luther in his mad religious opulence
While Wagner composed at his height for the Fuhrer
And King David’s abandoned tribe yearned for Jerusalem, next year!

Kristallnacht I do remember you, without vanity
History teaches and assuages insanity
Lessons learned to believe threats shouted or intoned
Act definitively, for haters and dictators mean what they say

Island

Island

I look at the delicate line of your face
Your slender shoulders as you laugh, that shake
Your hair’s always a flowing rush
An angelic touch that’s almost too much

Your walk’s an easy stride of pride
A sashay that makes you glide
Delicate ankles that compliment your Choo’s
Lithesome beauty of a blessed princess

The intelligent brightness of your eyes
Engulf my world without disguise
They’re truth from your soul personified
My clear reflection in them makes me dignified

Beauty’s an expression from you within
A spiritual reflection of virtue defeating sin
The human touch is a kiss of love
Recognition of creation from above

Her Terror

Her Terror

Then the senses rage and you’re in a cage
Consequences are minor sequences and there’s no penance
Temper is the mist that makes emotion king
Love’s dissolution, shouting and screaming

Who’d you see in your front view?
Gentle, trusting eyes engulfed in tears, struck by a lightning blow?
Victim to you is prey, bleeding and kneeling to pray
Shrieking in terror, the cracks weren’t play

A glance in the mirror witnesses a devil
Weakness your cowardice embracing evil
Your commitment to love and cherish
Now a defunct and irrelevant wish

From a hand on the Bible to shattering the band
It wasn’t meant to be survival of a wicked hand
Violent explosion was her soul in convulsion
You’re damned for eternity as a domestic violent felon

Chain Of Command

Chain Of Command

She returned to the fold where there’s no freedom to behold
I witnessed the difference in you and it wasn’t the winter cold
From care free and flowers in your hair
Now you have to worry in case you dare

Patriarchal society seeks constant anxiety
Demands the female variety be a subservient entity
Emotionless description delivers reality’s conscription
Raised since birth to follow societal instruction

But governed by religion untouched by reformation
Indecent culture where judgment’s according to womb production
See the patriarchs carry the children as trophies
She has no decision from cradle thru’ derision

Fear and control are the patriarch’s weapons
But fear also rules his ingrained superstitions
And control too is his crutch, clinging to belief in a vengeful divinity
This damn human curse set for infinity

My Texan Reckoning

My Texan Reckoning

Has faith departed, then you had none
If you have no faith; then reason is the only one
Calamitous events that shock and shake with ferocity
If fear drives then you’ve neither faith nor rational philosophy

There’s your mind and it decides which way you wind
Prayer does fulfill many of mankind
Atheism’s the answer for those where reason is the absolute
The rest reside in no man’s land and may reach for the Absolut

D’you consider there’s only one way?
Then humanity will whup your ass every day
I’ve tried to be an atheist because my mind holds sway
But I can’t because I have a faith that I can’t explain away

I get angry and mad and declare faith a croc!
I resent religion because to me it’s a dictatorial lock
On earth reason is in command and faith can drive moral courage
Our tangible savior is sublime human nature

Reincarnation

Reincarnation

Loneliness creeps until you’re unable to sleep
Infuses its cold fingers so deep
All that can be seen is misery in love’s drought
Only seen is that winter hue of a sun that can’t climb out

The heart that despairs and the mind in an endless bind
Hopeless appears as a friendly face despite being unkind
You walk and see anonymous faces but feel their attack
It’s the insanity of cold emotions that haunt and track

Then rises the questions of existence
Are we by design, chance or part of Nature’s consequence?
You know all it takes is a chance romance
And suddenly it’ll all be about at least a dalliance

Emotions rise and fall leading to summer and a snowy pall
Secret’s to find the bedrock that draws the line
This far down and no farther is true
Strength is to risk and reincarnate you

Freedom’s Tears

Freedom’s Tears

What if the face of love is the mask of abuse?
Stockholm Syndrome since birth, an evil truth
Deranged belief from a time before man’s relief
Metaphysical confusion leading to religion

Suffer the children and the women
Government and patriarchal collusion
Liberty’s destruction in the victim’s mind
Forever bound to obey without a sound

Modesty corrupted in shame and disgrace
Chains don’t need to be metal in order to imprison and destroy grace
Teaching suspicion and that humanity is fallen
Evil is the blame of original sin

Deranged minds that heard voices
Directing them to control and demand obsessive compulsions
Fear, of the mind in Liberty
Religion lives in fear of choices

In The Mind

In The Mind

When the thoughts combine and peak
Then comes the darkness of the evil streak
Kaleidoscope explosion, the color of blood
Hatred horizon, sweet screams to kill in a flood

Hate them for what they are
The more good and vulnerable, so greater the contempt
Innocence an elixir that tastes in my mouth
To shred their lives in the sight of where they trust most

The blessed scepter in my hands that carries out my mind
Into the hall and I see the angels kneeling on the floor
Do I wake them before I kiss their lives?
The ultimate torment to infuse doubt in the faith they strive

This world of pretense, the bastion of nihilism
There’s no comfort but only ruthless stone realism
It’s over now and there’s nothing to feel as the hatred wanes
Point is, evil’s a circle on an eternal plane

Blight

Blight

From a neighborhood that now makes me a ghetto rat
Destruction is an inevitable fact
Streets where once trendy and sexy played
Governance by the corrupt of the wretched is now displayed

Is this a thermodynamic law stuck?
Vice is the throwing of political dice
A place where electricity and water used to run
Now fires burn and charred buildings yearn

Above the earth where gold was found
Taken and spent is the destiny of empty ground
Blue skies and warm sunshine still abound
Cold comfort for those that live in the shells of buildings all around

Do I hate those that caused this nefarious mess?
I look back and it triggers sad distress
But I’m not surprised for the world has regressed
And rational minds have been repressed

Deranged

Deranged

We glean history to prevent stupidity
Einstein taught that repeating stupidity is insanity
Yet mind brakes are a facet of humanity throughout history
Rejection of rational philosophy the reality

So we act emotionalist instead of mindset
Knowing that reason and reality are the sole objective set
When will we realize that suffering’s avoidable?
Y’see politically and socially there’s no place for the emotional

Power grabs and the latest fads
Maybe it’s all about seeking to be liked by the lasses and lads
Emotions that run and weigh a ton
Short-term gratification leading to nothing getting done

So around we go and it’s all a show
Playing dice with lives and struggling at the low
For once let’s abandon emotion and embrace the brainiacs
You’ll see how happy all will be when everyone can afford an Apple Mac

Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow

We move forward with technology
We’re up to IPhone X chronology
Yet look at this species called homo sapien
How truly wise are we, there’s nuclear proliferation

We have reason, it rests upon logical abstraction
But see how we love the mystical and superstition
We’re driven by dogma, blinded by religion
Regardless whose right, it’s no indication of who’ll trigger ignition

So we stand looking with hatred into each others eyes
Instead of staring up at the beautiful blue skies
Seeking weapons to destroy more and better is validation
Threatening us is our own deliberate extinction

But there is a fight between good and evil
And we must have ours to defend against a devil
But as the clock ticks and holds before a nuclear night
The danger always lurks for an accidental good night
