Blight

Blight

From a neighborhood that now makes me a ghetto rat
Destruction is an inevitable fact
Streets where once trendy and sexy played
Governance by the corrupt of the wretched is now displayed

Is this a thermodynamic law stuck?
Vice is the throwing of political dice
A place where electricity and water used to run
Now fires burn and charred buildings yearn

Above the earth where gold was found
Taken and spent is the destiny of empty ground
Blue skies and warm sunshine still abound
Cold comfort for those that live in the shells of buildings all around

Do I hate those that caused this nefarious mess?
I look back and it triggers sad distress
But I’m not surprised for the world has regressed
And rational minds have been repressed
