Jedidiah’s
Alter Ego
The
lonely eyes watch longingly the partiers
Lonely
ears hear the laughter and frivolous cries
Tears
flow on both sides just that one weeps as the other dries
Sighs
resound across the sound, sadness colliding with passionate cries
Two
worlds so close, calm waters on the Long Island
close
She sits
in her deck chair and looks without a care
Appearances
so deceiving for she’s seething
Disappointment
and anger are such nearby feelings
Stood up
after he swore truth and honesty to her
Why’d he
wreck that she’d declared so dear?
Now all
on her own at home tortured by sounds and a silent phone
Reflects
upon her belief that beauty and virtue would never let her down
Alas, the
world doesn’t run on honesty, integrity and fair
Romantics
of this world are forever Wednesday’s share
They
yearn for love, its perfection is their care
Angels
upon the earth for they dare
