On The Corner

On The Corner

The summer solstice swings by and I lie in the rye
Time had no meaning until I had to reflect and cry
We move from childhood to youth and then an adult sees truth
We’re not taught that time is master uncouth

The Pagans worship at Stonehenge unhinged
But maybe my half-smile sees some sanity tinge
For time dictates and seals everyone’s fate
The only prediction where inevitability is a given state

Wasted time is a relative of mine
But don’t be smug; we’re all guilty of that crime
Yet relative to what is the judge that punishes
Within I feel emotion that raises and diminishes

In the sun time stands still, the beach and ocean thrill
But in the desert of life it burns and kills
Reality is the sun dial and wrinkled skin in the mirror
Life is never a straight line so celebrate the longest day’s quiver
