New World Tears

New World Tears

I am Moses for I could not enter the Promised Land
Land of Liberty that destroyed Kings and dictating bands
Shining city on the hill it came to be known
For its light shone far and wide and the oppressed weren’t alone

Then came the time when mistakes entered the fray
Aristotle was slain as Plato began to rule the day
Constituted to heal the individual from malaise
Money became the morality where virtues were once raised

Shaky foundations are the new order of pay for play
Fear the emotion that hates and smites all in its way
Undermining Liberty and replacing it with Plato’s Republic
Utopia it’s vision but dystopia the promise and reality tyrannic

Yet despite, the flicker of light has always been the renewal ability
That when this great People have seen the abyss, they see reality
That the light of Washington Jefferson and Paine is Liberty’s nobility
And that once more the turn will be from like all others to exceptionality
