Love is a Cowboy

Love is a Cowboy

Does love exist or is it merely a mist?
Does someone really care or it is familiarity’s twist?
Trapped between youth and old age fear
Skeptics abound let’s be clear

For once tied, then apart, will cut your heart and scar your soul
Evolution’s revenge to frustrate and bend
Break free from this hormonal hold and it will avenge
Conflict between desire and familiarity until your end

To first desire and then to love
Or have neither, and then hope for love
The prison of love without desire
A sentence, you’ve cursed yourself to live in frustration’s fire

Tied by the law of convention’s yoke
To stray then accused thru’ the biblical joke
To capture desire then love is not enough
Intellect is the lasso that corrals the lot
