Those dratted days when all you do is get thru’, one step after the other

Al day your mind screams where’s the vermouth, elixir cocktail or another

Self-destruction built into the human

You can’t see the battles that are the struggles of others within

This rising whine splits the mind from religion

And morality, that self-righteous vitality’s the sin

For who declares the standard to force you in?

Mind outside and emotion within

Belief, the incorrigible motivator that destroys rational faith

Are these all contradictions that collide like two trains on a common path?

Perhaps the schizophrenic machinations like a maniacal laugh

For religion like humanism paints Utopia too as wealth

So where to, in order to rescue you and find faith’s peace?

Rather is the rational view that coincides with reality and historically

That the chain is one of light, existence, since God ordained commensurately

Deep faith and living rationally, the Deist kiss that settles you mentally
