Crucible

Crucible

Nothing like an act of kindness that can make you cry
Tough reality of life that some are born on a Wednesday to cry
That ledge of togetherness so high it might have been in the sky
Shattered souls look strong because strays always pledge not to die

Societal anger at those without allegiance
How will you be one of us; in smugness is their grievance
Surely belonging is alone something not to desire?
Resentment of the outsider illuminates the weak minded on fire

Emotions of the damned if you’re afraid to stand where you ought to be
When behavior conflicts with the reasoned mind, remember The Bard’s “To be….”
Make time yours in the hours that conventionally be
Passionately embrace what is yours unconditionally

Your life is your own to be touched by none without permission, you see
It’s how you live that allows you to see
Stand where you want, but understand consequently
No tears or regrets will be your happiness, emotionally
