Abysmal Thunder
When
sadness says you’re mine to keep, resist to weep
Days of
wine and roses; soda, pretzels and beer
Songs
that make you remember and bring nostalgia cheer
Before
the angel of love’s death appeared
His
devious shadow just out of view
Relishing
your laughter as he began to cast his curse on you
Crashing
your chemicals and melting emotion’s glue
Now
wreckage is all about and nothing seems true
Temptation
to surrender all that’s sublime is easy
Self-pity
is an addiction warm and sleazy
And like
all who frequent that speak easy, it ends in a hangover of depression
Fracturing
your mind and raising belief you don’t deserve happiness’ ambition
But
you’re humanity with choices to usurp inevitability
Not at
the beginning or the end, but in between it is viability
To move
is life, to fight and resist makes you your life’s knight
So slay
the evil angel and fly brave Cupid’s flight
