But Virtuous Guile

But Virtuous Guile

I dwell in the past because it’s warm and vast
No tears jeer at me because they’re long gone
And the future back then, I know, because it’s here
Choices I make, the steps I take, the determination of now

Move a hand left or right, in that instant like the butterfly’s wings
I hear the thunder and the wind whooshes and sings
I’m the arrowhead on a vector in flight
I’m taken as in destiny’s might

May I regret or wish anew?
A new past or differently redo is a fantasy in air
I won’t participate in that pointless dare
Look into the mirror and see my stare

Its moral cowards that blame another
I’m kind to myself for ‘twas all done virtuously
Seeing innocence in me allows being naïve
So I’m not suspicious or cynical, seeing others
