Hot Pants

Hot Pants

Restless is the breed in a hot summer breeze
The blanket of summer stifles
Caged in humid heat the seasonal taste of Hades
Cracked tarmac like chapped lips of the street

Wanting for water but this is the demon’s heat
It’s wet but is direct from the sun my sweet
That smiling life giving star is also a cruel relentless czar
It owns our heavens and rules to char

See the asphalt give way to the tune of hazy hot and humid
Air conditioning becomes an idol to whom all praise is due
Addictions of the summer flow as Coke, Red Bull or Mountain Dew
Long lines into the sea and the sharks grin at the view

Then the rains come and the panting ants come than run
Cool winds its way thru’ the soaking city
Is that as shiver as dusk is delivered?
Summer’s done and it’s a matter of time ‘til snow says “hello!!!”
