Earth Shift

Earth Shift

Change is something humans find profane
For they’re set on routine regardless how they complain
Whether each day or over a month
Repetition feels secure and is enjoyed like punch

Then one day the bowl cracks!
Shock and dismay is felt and on display
The fates have turned their faces away
New ways and unfamiliar places, untied are your shoe laces

Senses and synapses, screaming and clashing
Grasping for the familiar and mind receiving a lashing
Once more you’ve been fooled by optimism
Once more you’ve forgotten that life’s ruled by objectivism

So now you’re on the vector train
Momentum to somewhere that’s draining your brain
Tears and hysterics, then calm and physics
Realizing you can’t count to ten doing emotional gymnastics
