For Adam
and Gideon
[Yom
Hazikaron (Memorial Day) April 17/18 2018]
This
small Nation dressed in blue and white
We cry
tonite because the sirens cry out
Those who
fought and brought forth the Jewish Nation once more
Despite
the odds we knew we had King David and the Judge Gideon, encore
Israel is a restless People, tough and
tumble
I’m so
different, my New England sensibilities
But I see
their goodness that they softly scorn
They
don’t relish being reminded of that adorn
At this
time we have a common core
The
fighters that died for Jewish freedom in its ancient home
And those
that came after to defend from the new savage hordes
Every
step across this Land, finds history at hand
I
remember two brothers, who died that Israel may live
Fighting
the Egyptians and the Syrians who believed we had to give
But the
prayers of the Six Million and mine tonite
I know
they’re with God and their eyes are shining bright
