A Road Back
Call it a cosmic cloak
that slips you to sleep
Sick or tired your mind
has no memory of that drift so deep
Awake with renewal for a
body older with knowledge of years
For a second or more youth
surges bringing teenage tears
Is it not both shocking
and surprising that life can move so quickly?
From as usual to a world
surreal when you are sickly
Perhaps tired as life’s
Jacob, you need those hours of trance
Moving from a dream dance
to a sneezing séance
Notice how we see our
parents in ourselves as time ticks?
Is this punishment,
reward, or our mind playing tricks?
Remembering times ago of
happiness when the world was whole
Knowing more now and
wishing Verne had been wrong
Reality strikes but then
all seems right when there is coffee at night
Seek the pleasures that
embrace your soul with delight
A road back can be smooth
if you jump the groove
This wander thru for me is
a chocolate, coffee and music trove
