Artist’s Albatross
Dictators hate, fascists
and socialists cannot relate
The heirs of Plato versus
Aristotle’s slate
Jump to reason revealed
the free world
Lyceum the core foundation
of it all
The Politics, a blueprint
for the New England dream
Eventually in Philadelphia it was born
with screams
Do not forget the
solemnity of Solon
Body named Supreme Court
his courteous Solomon
The Intellectual is
liberty’s child
But children can betray
their parents in time
Artists as in aesthetics
encompass the whole
They tell, uplift, enrich
but can bring you into a hole
Artist’s albatross, those
who will keep individualism will cry
Write, compose, play or
sing these the collectivists decry
For nothing is stronger
than words, music and play
Be courageous and brave as the art you say
