Before We Allowed
The frightening love of a
god to arise
How pathetic and small it
makes mankind in these eyes
In all these eons has
humankind stepped so short
That it is dominated by
fear and irrational snorts
The hated mind that faith
and mysticism fear
The mind that courage,
freedom and reason reveres
That sadness when the
bright are hated for being bright
Belief fearing the
illumination of the mind being right
Mankind’s frozen fear of
the blind base abyss
It’s sickening horror of
eternity, fear of the mortal truss
Sanctification of the
irrational attached to the rational
This the greatest sin
against ourselves, debasing the moral
Look back to see when we
were wild, wanton and free
Before we allowed fear to
breathe and gave government the key
There was a time of
burgeoning liberty, in the nineteenth century
Alas, ‘twas never raised
to the status of a faith and now is in purgatory
