Clear Reflections

Clear Reflections

Why am I condemned, this melancholy dividend?
Paid by life to endure separation with no end
You see love is the stipend for those kissed by destiny
Nothing is the backhand for those smacked feeling like it’s for eternity

The rejected are part of humanity’s casualties
Frightened of each other for they see reflections of their realities
Temporary regret at the split second decision not to reach toward
Upon reflection it’s reasoned it’d have been untoward

Rationalization relieves guilt, tagged on to life’s quilt
Never looking back can never eradicate knowing what you didn’t do
Rejecting for the reason you fear the most
Witnessing another hurt soul, it haunts you the worst

Resolution resides in courage where you have to reach deep
It’ll feel surreal and conscious identity will be as if you’re walking asleep
You’ll wonder is this me or am I in another dimension?
But it’ll be reality and you’ll have broken unearned retribution
