Our Metaphysical Arrogances

Our Metaphysical Arrogances

Divinity went from the mountains, to the heavens
Aristotle released us from metaphysical prisons
Belief is a wish on steroids
And religion has made men paranoids

The great alarm about infinity is that it’s for eternity
Consciousness the human awareness, cognition our identification
Loss is that human inevitability and it hangs above so we don’t look up
Cognitive dissonance is that illusionary permanence which we sup

Sin for all seasons is the refusal to reality
Pretending that what we want is a positive formality
But normative delusions never bring solutions
‘Tis humanity’s vanity getting in the way of resolutions

Stand upon reason the resolute absolute
It requires courage to do for then declared is my responsibility
Metaphysics will embrace you and the trade winds fair
Calmness and peace for the world if it’d dare
