First Prize

First Prize

For those times when you get to restart the merry-go-round
Happiness surges and feels profound
A message not sent or missed opportunity is reset
Miserably or delightfully, the relief’s always good company

Humanity, the only one’s aware that there’s mortality
Optimistically, we anticipate ambitions enthusiastically
Marvels of faith and confidence, we trust
Conflicts within, make frantic our thrust

For as we get older, time is better understood
It’s more important to discover your passions, even if it’s to chop wood
It’s not about that evil named perfection
It’s about reaching your highest and achieving that satisfaction

Courage is the aesthetically naked stand
Taking barbs tossed when you throw yourself before the grandstand
Identify yourself with the brave you know inside
Declare who you are outwardly, then stride with pride
