On Bended Knee

On Bended Knee

Why do we sacrifice ourselves to cleanse?
What drives to seclude and bend the knee to Thee?
Surround ourselves with walls and bars to keep?
Us in or them out, so begs the question of the purpose in life

Angelic voices that draw by singing, so resonate
I sob with that feeling and holy imagining
That perhaps perchance there’s soulful awakening
A connection that sings to a place known: before birth?

Emotion on high, is this a hymn in my mind or a feeling of prayer?
A human emotion that rises when the world is my crisis
A homily heard through unsolicited faith
That religion is order but which are fake?

Hypocrisy is the constant where faith is held out
Derision by the faithful of those that are without
A bright sun unexpected on a heavy clouded day
It’s all what we make it, Liberty’s foray
