The Hopeful Romantic

The Hopeful Romantic

Wrapped me in crying, squeezing my being
Strip away the heat, now there is freezing
Justice lost, all are deaf to my shout
Nothing worthy of belief, the route of trust

Display this for humanity to see, closed to my view
But I feel the blows as I am forced to kneel on a pew
Vision or reflection of my reality like zig-zagging lines
Multi-colored explosions resonating, my neon signs

No control of my destiny’s pushes or thrusts
Responsive attempts swept away as dust
No idea how to cope, simply manage through reaction and hope
One step more surely the happy side I’ll uncover and elope

But that is my dream away as once again Lena will run from the fray
Punch my soul for that is the course of love’s way
Punish the hopeful romantic, disobeying gravity’s lien
Yet all it will take is one spark to win this battle for love’s scion
