I, Stray …

I, Stray …

The sobs that rise when you realize you’re the stray
The kicks and hits that endure, no matter the day
But senses are high and you’ll notice the gentle loving soul
But the stray tries too hard and is always expecting that, “so long”

Am I the sacrifice to happiness so that the lucky can dance free?
Or no explanation, just life’s random decree
I, Stray is the name of pride
For I am loyal and don’t deride

Where are the brave that see beyond my scars?
Please look into my eyes at the bright, sad longing of years
I am strength personified for I have never surrendered
I continue to search no matter how much I must render

I am too the fool that trusts without questioning sincerity
Willingly naïve for I am romantic, as love and caring to me is purity
Deceit so foreign to my nature, suffering is a disgusting caricature
But don’t deceive me for you will die in my eyes and pity will be your picture
