Illusion

Illusion

I walk on paper, deep ravine below
I long for my love, her soul I do not yet know
I tread with trepidation; each tear is life’s vilification
A lonely soul desiring love, resisting alienation

Alone in this world, I am from others
Wandered this earth, discovered lovers
Always tomorrow, the panacea, an illusion
Reality is always today, bulwark against confusion

Feelings are so fleeting, one word leaves one bleating
Love, the eternal elixir, imagining this fixer, so persuading
Hope is the death of confidence
Embrace the danger of reality’s contingent

Seeking life’s certainty, is humanity’s illusion of frailty
Breathe the fresh air of risk, break that wall of surety
Illusions are infusions, but only my true love is reality
So seek, never look back, to find that soul of immortality
