Chocolate
Cherries
I look
back and remember, it seems like yesterday
I was
twenty and the world was for play
I was a
soldier, sailor, airman or any one yesterday
I was of
those for whom those bells were ready to play
You never
notice when moving from young to middle age
I think
we’re born at an age that forever’s ours
Even at
ninety, we’d still be at that stage
You don’t
notice when becoming old – see the bright eyes of those to behold
To be
human isn’t easy
We’re the
only species aware of mortality
To be
young the time moves irrelevantly
We’re the
ones that significantly notice time moves irrevocably
What’s
the most important thing to be?
I was
taught as The Bard intoned to be
True to
you and seek happiness constantly
True
happiness, the attainment of your values, chocolate cherries
