Contrast

Contrast

Tell her to pray when she’s starving
Tell her to pray when her baby’s hungry and dying
Suspend reality when the gun’s at her head
Declare she’s resting in peace when she’s dead

Declare creation and deny evolution
Soothe your incredulity and recommend intelligent design
Pretend that virology is a seasonal gremlin
Imprison reason and look at life thru’ a pretty prism

Faith clashing with reality
Makes for an uncomfortable physicality
You’ve a mind that shouts doubt
Do you cast salt over your shoulder and knock on wood?

Superstition’s in between reason and faith
Calms nerves whilst pretense is its worth
A world of contrasts
Minds still wanting when it comes to Aristotle’s mirth
