Film Noir
Don’t you love film noir,
those dark corners untrained?
See the time of life gone
by, starkly unrestrained
Actresses sensuously
elegant, those sexy femme fatale’s
Life told raw, its bangs,
hurts and flaws
Music that aroused chills
in anticipation of black & white thrills
Nothing gray to spoil your
day watching from the stalls
Morality too was white or
black, the good guys you knew
They won the day through
truth and perhaps lived next door to you
Light plays tricks and can
trigger nervous ticks
The moonlight loves to scare and play mind tricks
In dark streets and dangerous alleys the shadows
Realities of life surreal as good fights evil fundamentally
shallow
Aesthetics reflects the mores of the day and no
anesthetic
Simpler times when fear of life was contained not
sustained
Braver souls back then without neuroses and lots of
audacity
For they knew that strength is in the individual
not the group model
