Noor

Noor

Pacifist, poet, writer and musician Noor went to war
Moral courage her core and bravery her quiet roar
Noor’s weapon was her radio transmitter as “Madeleine”
Her task the most dangerous in all of occupied Charlemagne

Born in Moscow of Indian heritage, raised French, waged war as a Brit
Warrior for freedom she trained to save with determination and grit
World War Two her theater far removed from the theatrical
Noor was a candle undermined by the wind of betrayal

Left as the only one, NAZI evil focused on her trail
She refused to escape home for that’d be a final surrender fail
One step ahead of the enemy, a traitor was her nail
Taken, tortured and left in chains for months in the GESTAPO jail

But never broken, not a word told, this little princess denied evil
Twice captured after escape, Noor was sent to Dachau death camp to kneel
Brutally beaten then a bullet through her head, her last word was LIBERTE!
We are free because a brave woman like her refused to be evil’s knave
