Happiness
Taunt
That time
of happy when life has turned
But
you’re the fool because ‘twas a momentary burn
Bright
and strong and you thought at long last
Wednesday’s
child had become Friday’s caste
Even then
you hoped but knew you weren’t chosen
For the barrier
was felt as the kiss was frozen
You’re
naïve but innocent in Lady Justice’ eyes
She sees
nothing but understands cries
You feel
outside and saddened pain is in your sigh
You
belonged, not quite, but for a while you were high
Heady to
be part of what you always see
Raised
your levels until you were happy in a warm sea
And then
the promises of sunshine during dusk and night
So
ridiculous upon reflection, but you believed in light
Alas,
your thirst and hunger had been so extreme
That
Aphrodite could not resist a happiness taunt obscene
