Desire’s Colors
Beware your desire it may
make you perspire
Wishes or dreams in your
mind are the spire
But reality obeys the
wishes of the universe’s squire
So prepare yourself for
the friction on a tire
There are many colors
within the shining light
Innocence will illuminate
the prize as bright
But the pathway to your
desire is refracted
It will decorate you with
bruises of colors it selected
No reason to stop or tarry
but only to carry
The load of your desire may
hurt with misery
It may seem like a sacrifice
and make you scream
But your scars will be
tough reminders not to preen
Funny how your desire once
so urgent can disappoint
Difference is the picture
that you paint
Perhaps it’s the chase
that excites your receptors deftly
While enjoyment is the happiness
that sustains infinitely
