Through

Through

When you turn on the pillow and the warmth flows
From whatever reason, who knows?
The memories flood and the abuse crashes through
For those that hit you in every way will never go away

Don’t punish yourself even though the tears still tear
For it has steeled you to survive on an automatic gear
No divine justice, as that’s a panacea which allows injustice
To defeat those that used their hands or mouth, be kindness

And tolerance for difference that was once a dare
Will become a friend and you’ll wonder what was the scare?
Hit from one side and cajoled from another, crashing tides
Not wanting to be victim or criminal you went to hide

The obvious was not physical for in reality nothing is invisible
You chose your mind which nobody can find and only disguise is visible
Hits or taunts can still find their marks, but how you act is in your eyes
Defiance forged into steel reflecting your words that strike and defy
