Time’s
Temerity
When you
get older, you might get bolder
But
mortality taps you on the shoulder
In this
shock awakening, time’s the coming out queen
For you
suddenly feel its movement and gleam
You may
panic but you can’t hear the piper’s tune
The
shadows are longer in the afternoon
It’s then
for the first time you look back
It takes
an instant to think, is that all on my track?
Your
imagination plays the piper’s tune, taps for eternity
An ache
or fleeting pain, is that the coming end of vitality?
How amusing
is the human psyche
You look
at the unused Nikes ruefully
Time for
coffee, it’s never not
Time, the
infinitely woven knot
It’s a
mind game within and, the trick’s to embrace it
Hang on
for dear life, for that’ll command it
