A
Societal Cage
Oh
wonderful contempt that powers hatred
Allows me
to look beyond the physical and witness their corrupted souls
Greed and
self-destruction is their hellish creed
Small
people without curiosity and nearsightedness their master
In their
small world they feel secure
Rising to
smug self-satisfaction they’re so smug
A world
where mommy and daddy hug
A world
that’s a comfortable plush rug
Arrogance
and hubris is their virus
Reaches a
fever at pitch Celsius
And they
feel safe and loved when saying “mommy” or “daddy”
Will they
ever mature to be self-secure?
This
veneer that hides their frustrations
Behind
curtained windows they peer at broken conventions
A yearn
to be free but it’s too late
And
anyway, what would daddy say, even tho’ they’re forty-three
