And The
Kiss
An outstretched
soldier’s hand, he’s blind and dying
Another
casualty from political lying
What’s
changed is technology
War’s a
bad business unless you’re in authority
They draw
the lines and never color it broken red
They
don’t see the ones that are dead
Listen to
the patriots all brave and true
Somewhere
in there’s the line that betrays them, red white and blue
It’s not
the task to be the world’s policeman
It’s not
the task for Johnny from Kansas
to rescue anyone
Our
Framers knew that alliances brought trouble
But
millions have died in foreign rubble
It’s
neither cynicism or skepticism but realism
For the
Powers have taken advantage of patriotism
The
outstretched hand sought his mother kiss
The nurse
at his side kissed him and he died
