Walking Back

Walking Back

Birthed to rise and sail onward to selfish reward
Fighting for values taught to be stalwart
Yet there’s one lingering demon in humanity’s fall
Hanging with reluctant surrender and standing too tall

See its red pathway colored in innocent blood
Hatred because of a difference in creed, color or cub
The words of Martin Luther King Jr still the prayer for love
Humanity needs to play, blind man’s buff

But the prayer falls on ears listening to their own shouts
Still those raised fists in black and white hooded sheets
Twisted cross, hammer and sickle, all the Leftist neophytes
Choice to ignore history and validity of reason and rights

Within are the innocent and the guilty that believe in the kilt
You’re one of us or one of them if you tilt
Hatred’s emotion accusing the purer of heart to be a sellout
Death is from within where irrational emotion is a suicide pact
