Arrival

Arrival

The self-destructive gene reigns over humanity, Supreme
How hard our intrinsic Light strives and puts up a noble fight
But Darkness’ Cloak lurks in the shadows seeking night
Using emotions that blind and bite

We’re mostly water so waves ebb and flow
Regret and cries for forgiveness is the after show
The human tides rage, mollify and then implode
Wreckage is remembered in monuments and prayers on overload

The evasive “why” is like searching for the ‘nth second prior
That moment before Creation when all was neither water nor fire
Maybe that’s the clue, all’s potential and the future
So the future’s before the present because it’s all now

Alas, metaphysics doesn’t divulge why
Somewhere between reason and unreason, thought goes dry
And the shift’s to an Idea whose time’s come
Even Victor Hugo couldn’t explain that one
